The festival of Navratri is very auspicious in Hindu religion. The nine day festival of Navratri is the adoration of the Divine Mother. It is also called Chaitra Navratri as it is celebrated in the month of March-April i.e Chaitra month.  Chaitra Navratri is divided into sets of three days to worship different aspects of the Supreme Goddess. On the first three days, the mother is adored as powerful force called Durga in order to destroy all or impurities. The next three days, the mother is adored as a giver of spiritual wealth, Lakshmi, who is considered to have the power of blessing wealth. And the final three days, is been worshipped as the goddess of Wisdom, Saraswati , she has the power to provide you a success in life. Hence, Navratri is a festival of adoration of divine power of Mother or MAA.      

 

2nd Day of Navratri



 

The second day of Navratri is for Maa Brahmacharini. She is worshipped on 2nd day of Navratri. She is the Roop of Maa  Durga and she is called Brahmacharini because she addresses Brahma (Penance)or tapasya. She is symbolized as the Godess who performs Tapa or hard penance. She holds Kamandal in her hand and Rosary in right. She wears white saree of bright –orange border and Rudraksh as ornament. She is the Goddess of wisdom and knowledge. Admiring Goddess Brahmacharini, the Rishi-Muni, disciples and devotees of Durga accomplishes their Yog-Sadhna, Pooja and penance. Solar radiations behind her head glorify her luster.

 

Story Of Maa Brahmacharini

It is believed that, when Parvati realized about her divine love toward Lord Shiva, she was advised by Rishi Narad to folloe customs and rituals of rigid Tapasya for long years.  While performing Tapasya, she suffered painful torments of nature like extremely biting cold, intense flames of Sun, and hammering of rain. But she continued that of her hard penance till thousands of years and ate only bilva leaves to survive. Till many hundreds of years, she abstained from water and food. And this way, she devoted herself completely in worship of Lord Shiva. This great Tapa made her glorified with name Brahmacharini and pleased Lord Shiva to be her divine consort.



 

 By heartily worshipping Goddess Brahmacharini, devotees can enhance their metabolism, stamina and can live without meals without much effect on health. So worship this almighty on this propitious day and obtain her enormous grace.
