In order to encourage the eco-friendly habits among people religious places are now taking initiatives. In one such recent development the temple authorities of Mahakaal temple in Ujjain has banned the use of Polythene. The devotees take the milk to offer to the Shiv-lingam in polythene. If someone is seen with polythene with milk to offer to Lord Shiva the polythene will be taken away and will not be returned.

The Government authorities in Uttarkashi are also taking a firm stand on environmental issues. Even before the Yatra for Gangotri & Yamnotri starts the Government has enforced section 144 in these places. According to this whoever is seen with a polybag will be entitle to punishment. If anyone ignores or doesn’t obey the law that person will be entitle for 6 month of imprisonment.
