In order to get give up immorality and attain releasement people observe this fast with heartily devotion, dedication and with lots of inputs. Utpanna Ekdashi is also known as Utpatti Ekadasi.
The main reason for celebrating Uttpatti Ekadashi is the legend about Lord Vishnu and fierce monster Murasura. While Lord Vishnu was sleeping fierce monster Mura thought of killing Lord. To overcome this situation, Goddess Ekadashi appeared and killed the demon. Pleased by her act, Lord Vishnu blessed Maa Ekadashi and informed that anyone observing this Ekadashi would be blessed with salvation. Since then, most Hindu devotees observe a fast on Uttpatti Ekadashi to attain liberation. For the courage and devotion towards the Lord we worship Maa Ekadashi on this day. This day devotees Worship to Lord Vishnu and Ekadashi Mata very pleasantly. They observe Ekadashi fast to please Lord Vishnu and Maa Ekadashi. Fast is observed from sunrise of Ekadashi to till the next day, which is called Dwadashi morning. Devotees offer Worship to Lord Krishna in Brahma mahurat. They offer flowers, dhoop batti, agar batti, diya, fruits an all according to their bhav- bhavna. Devootees donate money to beggars and other needy persons. This fast is equals to fasting for all three Lords Brihma, Vishnu and Mahesh.
