We see almost in all the Hanuman Temple, the deity of Hanuman Ji is covered with orange colour sindoor. The whole idol is in an orange colour. It is also believed that a devotee is blessed with happy and long life if he/she applies sindoor on Hanumans idol. But do you know why sindoor vale Hanuman Ji is so popular?  There is an interesting story of how Hanuman Ji applied sindoor on his body to show his love for Lord Rama.

One day, Sita mata was wearing sindoor in the parting of her hairs. Hanuman Ji noticed that and curiously asked her, what is that you were wearing? On this, Sita Mata replied that, It is sindoor that I am wearing. Then Again Hanuman Ji asked why sindoor is so important. With a Smile, Sita Mata replied back that, Wearing sindoor would result good for my husband and would also bless my husband with happy and long life. Listening to this, Hanuman Ji enthusiastically smeared all the sindoor on his body. He was completely red, his face, the nose, hair, his clothes, everything was completely coated with sindoor.

Lord Rama saw Hanuman Ji covered with sindoor and asked the reason. Hanuman Ji told that, Sita mata told me that by applying just a pinch of sindoor on her head would make you have a long and happy life. Then, I thought if a pinch will do so much, then what would happen if I cover my entire body with sindoor. Thus, Lord Rama gave a boon to all his devotees that those who apply sindoor o Hanuman Ji and perform Hanuman Puja with Sindoor would be blessed with a long and happy life and their wishes will be fulfilled.

The one who give away sindoor to the idol of Hanuman Ji in Hanuman Temple or offer Sindoor Puja is granted with his wishes. People take back a little sindoor from Lord Hanuman as parsad and wear it in their foreheads. So the next time when you go to the temple, must offer Sindoor and grant his blessings.
