Madurai's Meenakshi Temple gets ISO Certificate
Madurai has got another feather in its cap as its famous Meenakshi temple has got an ISO certification. The Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple here has been accorded ISO 9001:2008 certification becoming only the fourth temple in the State to gain this accreditation.The temple was originally built by king Kulasekara Pandiyan and developed by the Nayak kings, who had ruled Madurai from the 16th to 18th century. The temple had the most exquisite Dravidian architecture.
the certification is valid for three years, starting from March 1, 2011 to February 28, 2014. The recognition was given for high quality services in terms of safety, security, queue facilities for darshan, cleanliness in the temple complex and provision of free food to devotees visiting the temple.

The other three temples in the State to have obtained the accreditation so far are Triplicane Parthasarathy Temple, Vadapalani Subramaniaswamy Temple and Mylapore Kapaleeswarar Temple, all of which are in Chennai.
